I led my lover to the sea
Down to the waters edge
The sun shone in the darkening sky
I held her hand
She looked at me, the way she always does
We kiss just as before
The bell that sounds the end of days hovers overhead
I held her tight in sweet embrace
Time and breath suspend her beating heart
My hands were strong
I heard her cry
Will you stay forever, like a lover should
It was dark and you were gone
Somewhere beyond the sea, it ebbs and flows
The spirit sleeps, my lover lies
I felt her go and leave me behind
in the evening light that shines so bright
at the end of days
