I made this image, called Before We Forgot How To Dream this week. The original photo of Samantha was shot early in 2015 down at Rosserk Abbey outside Ballina. Sam’s a wonderful person to work with and is really relaxed and just herself in front of the camera.
The pose and her peaceful, elegant demeanour was exactly what I was looking for. However, as I’ve said before it can be weeks or months before I see how I want to proceed with an image.
I really liked the pose and didn’t want the stone walls to distract from it. The photo needed to be all about the pose and the mood.
Using Lightroom I corrected the exposure, white balance and lens profile. Then I opened the image in Photoshop and removed the background. This was easily done using the Selection and Fill tools.
Next, I masked off the dress and changed the colour of it using a Hue/Saturation layer. The Liquify tool was used to accentuate some angles and curves and finally, I used Analogue Efex Pro to render the background.

My aim was to produce a dreamlike image that portrayed the model in a thoughtful and peaceful manner. And I believe it worked.
So, my call out for models (male or female) still stands. If you can get into character or have your own creative ideas, then lets work together. If you think you might want to try something like this, reply in the comments, email me or message me at Facebook.
