The light on Achill Island had become a tad uninteresting. However, I spotted this Atlantic fog settling around Achill Head. Using a telephoto lens allowed me to get closer. l like the minimalism created by the shapes and the lack of colour.
The white space is intentional in order to give the viewer a sense of space and time, both things we all need in our lives a little more often than we presently have.
Although black and white is a firm favourite of mine, many times it occurs naturally in nature. Keep a look out for it.
Achill island is full of beautiful scenes like this just waiting to be discovered. I was lucky enough to get quite a few nice images from here on my visit. Check out my shop for more of photographs of this stunning location.
In my workshops (that will continue throughout Autumn/Winter) we will discuss various techniques in order to capture monochromatic photographs like this.
If you have a particular scene of Achill Island or indeed around counties Mayo or Galway that you’d like captured, let me know and we can create something great together.
